Fermented garlic honey is king of home remedies when it comes to managing sore throats and irritating coughs. Its a must have item right along with Elderberry and Fire Cider.
Here's a recipe I love. It's easy to follow and impossible to screw up. It's a staple in my home apothecary alongside the likes of elderberry syrup and fire cider.
Items needed: 2 bulbs of raw garlic, raw honey, glass jar with top
Instructions: Peel and separate garlic gloves and place in your mason jar. Pour Raw local honey or whatever honey you can get your hands on (Walmart has a great selection of organic honey) and completely cover the garlic. Leave some space at the top of the jar for the fermentation process. You will see tiny bubbles forming. This is GREAT. This is the fermentation process happening (juices from the garlic seeping into the honey). Shake the jar every day to ensure honey is covering the garlic cloves. After 3 week strain the garlic (or eat the cloves, this is what I do) and keep the fermented honey in a cool dark place. It's normal for honey to darken overtime. Take a tablespoon when colds are present or take a few spoonfuls as prevention during cold and flu season.
*Honey should not be given to babies sunder 1 year of age*
I’m starting this today and will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for this.
